LIC and Fonterra Recognised for Their Cooperation to Create Agrigate

LIC and Fonterra won the ‘Cooperation among Cooperatives’ award for their joint venture Agrigate, at the Cooperative NZ Awards on Thursday 15 August, 2019. LIC was also recognised as Cooperative of the year.

Launched in 2017, Agrigate is a data sharing and exchange platform for New Zealand farmers. By connecting together data sets from Fonterra, LIC, Figured, Ravensdown, PaySauce, and others. Agrigate aims to make it easier for farmers to meet compliance requirements and to reduce double-entry of data.

We are proud to have such great parents, and believe that cooperation between Cooperatives is essential to ensuring a sustainable future for New Zealand farmers.

“New Zealand farmers benefit hugely from their Cooperatives, and the depth of data across the industry is another way that those benefits can be realised,” says Emma.

“Farming is facing unprecedented change from consumer markets and increasing natural resource constraints, and sharing data is important to ensuring that farmers can adapt to that change and remain at the forefront of the future of food. Collaboration between Cooperatives is critical to making this happen – and, after all, we share common owners.”
